How It Works
Sclerotherapy for the Treatment of Spider Veins
Spider veins on the legs can be treated in a variety of ways depending on their size and location. At Dermatology San Antonio we use a mild sclerosant solution to treat red to purple spider veins on the legs. This involves the injection of a solution into the vein which affects the internal lining of the vein causing it to close as it heals from the treatment resulting in elimination of the vein.
The solution chosen by our providers was selected for its maximum effectiveness and minimal discomfort. Depending on the number and severity of spider veins, 2-3 Sclerotherapy sessions may be needed. Sclerotherapy treatments itself usually takes approximately 20 minutes. This procedure is performed by our physicians.
